Horror Titles

horror titles are very important for setting the scene for a good horror film, some horror films have inter titles and sometimes they have black screen titles, but one thing that tends to stay the same is the font and colour. horror films have names like 'saw', 'when a stranger calls' and 'creep', all things things are associated with danger so suit a horror film well.

Font

the font in horror films tends to look old, this could show that the event was in the past. most horror titles have smeared writing and very sharp and jagged, this makes things feel on edge and not smooth writing that makes you feel more relaxed. the sharp writing also shows danger like weapons. the writing also tends to be big and bold as this has more of an impact. the writing is also sometimes shaky and blurry, this gives the effect of it not being clear an ghost like.

Font colour

most horror film fonts are dark colours, this makes it more serious and depressing, the dark colours also represent night time which is more frightening and when things normally go wrong in horror films. the colours are also normally red as this represents blood and death.

'The Strangers' titles

the film starts with black screen titles, this makes it mysterious as to what happens next. the font is orange which is a colour associated with Halloween, this adds the the effect of a horror film. the titles also explain what has happened and sets the scene for the film. this gives the audience and brief idea about what is going to happen.
